Work Permits (VIsa´s) and Paperwork

Malta is in the EU but they are allowed to ask EU citizens to obtain Work Visa´s.  This was part of the deal for Malta losing it´s sovereignty to join the EU block.  They in turn had to agree to increase their Strategic Oil Reserve.  A vital interest to the every day life of the Maltese people and nothing to do with money.  Although the EU may have looked at how many cars are on the road (the highest per capita in Europe) and may actually be doing them a favour.  There are a lot of cars on the road for such a small place.  Also many Jeep/Land Rover types and lots of posh cars.  Essential for a basically flat Island with the worst windiest roads in Europe.

Do not worry though as it is very very difficult to be turned down for a Visa in the Igaming sector (at the moment).

If you are not Maltese you will need to get a Work Visa after you have got the job.  You will need to get other forms of documentation including Residents Card etc.  Your Employer will inform you of these.

If you get a job in the Igaming industry you will need to also have a Police check done to obtain your "Good Conduct Certificate".  Don´t worry as this is only a local one.  If you have not been caught doing anything illegal since your stay in Malta then you will be OK.  Does not matter what you have done abroad unless the Maltese Gaming Authority find out.

SmartCity Malta

Igaming is fast developing.  Malta is certainly massive in the Igaming world and may already be the biggest.  It is only set to grow especially with SmartCity malta being built soon.  SmartCity@malta, as they like to call it, is going to be immense and will secure Malta as the first and only place for igaming.  To read more on the latest developments visit http://www.smartcity.ae/malta.

The only 2 work links you need

If you want to contact ALL the Igaming companies direct then here is the link to a page on the LGA site that lists them all!  Not only that but you get the link to the website if you are to lazy to copy and paste.

The other link for more general info on Malta is here.
Looking for work in the internet gaming sector?  First thing to know is that it is called igaming in Malta.

If you do not live in Malta then this site www.maltajobsearch.com is a great place to start for advice and lots of links.

The main agencies at the moment are www.pg-global.com (Peritus Group) and www.pentasia.com (Pentasia)

There are a lot of jobs at various times of the year but it can take a few months to get a job.  This is the Med and if it is worth doing it is worth doing slowly and maybe carefully.

There are many established companies and lots of smaller growing companies or start ups.  Pay and working conditions vary.  Some will pay "normal" European or Igaming wages (like you would expect in London or Gibraltar) but others have moved here specifically for the cheap local English speaking labour.  They have also gone through the bubble in that lots of East Europeans are working here and happy to work for low industry standard wages.  It also helps that the new emerging betting markets are in Poland and places like that.
